As industrialisation and globalisation grows local industries are forced to close down, and once the metamorphosis of a thriving production is completed, discarded industries including buildings, mines and piles of raw materials, ends up shaping the landscape. Since ancient times humans have taken materials present in the surrounding nature and turned them into something new. Although humans are part of nature, human activity is a separate category from other natural phenomena. Exploring infrastructure causes me to look at local materials in a new light and in a broader sense. I now view byproducts from industries as a source of local material, and by default, the nature of creative making as a means to communicate the current state of our societies. I believe that the key to innovation lies in collaborations, through cross-disciplinary work where science, crafts and design meet in the development of different methods of collecting, recycling and converting waste.

" The nature of creative making as a means to communicate the current state of our societies"

Annelie Grimwade Olofsson focuses on combining material research and design, primarily working in ceramics and glass in a multidisciplinary practice. Her motivation derives from society related issues where the context is essential. Grimwade investigates human activity, in a bio-geophysical setting, where the concept of fragility is a recurring theme. Through experimentation and theoretical research her projects develop into conceptual works which explores the borderland between control and self governed form. She believes that the true power of material aesthetics is found beyond human imagination. She catalogues and describes, nonetheless her works always hold a sense of oddness and poetry about them. She graduated from KADK-The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Schools
of Architecture, Design and Conservation in 2019 with an  honors in Bachelor of Design.
